Employee Attendance Tracking

So why is it always such a pain in the @!# to keep track of Employee Attendance? Something that seems like it should be so easy becomes a royal pain and a huge time waster. I feel its also an area ripe for abuse, as some employees seem to figure out the game of how to take time off without it getting recorded for one reason or another. Whether its the way they submit the request for time off or who they submit the request to, that it just does not get deducted from the bank of accrued time off.

Well we finally got tired of not being able to find any decent Employee Attendance Software out there that would solve attendance tracking of employees simply and effectively. Attendance tracking should not have to be complicated and that was the premise behind our design. Attendance Software should be a time saver not a time waster for both the Human Resource Professional and the Employee.

InterConnectTM Time Tracker makes it simple for an Employee to see what time they have accrued, pending time off requests, approved or denied requests and a complete history of any activity regarding their banks of time. InterConnectTM Time Tracker also replaces other employee attendance software so that the Human Resource Profressional can easily answer questions that Employees may have regarding their Vacation, Personal, Paid Time Off (PTO), Sick or any other time off type. This allows the HR Professional to get back to more important issues and not the tedious task of tracking and acrruing time off.

So if Attendance Tracking for your Employees is what you need and you have looked at the other employee attendance software out there and you are still not satisfied, then contact Dynamic Solutions Group so that we can give you a tour of InterConnectTM Time Tracker so you can see why we fell that our solution is the best time and attendance software!

Dynamic Virtualization

Virtualization is a technology that isolates one computing resource from others. By separating the logical operation from the physical hardware, a virtualized environment provides greater operational flexibility and streamlines system changes, providing a platform that strengthens business continuity and scales rapidly to meet business demands. Virtualized environments enhance the IT organization's capacity to deliver powerful, robust solutions to meet business needs quickly and efficiently. IT no longer needs to configure each component for them to all work together, reducing complexity and freeing up resources.

Virtualized computing resources provide the flexibility to quickly add capability when business demands, while improving business continuity and supporting a robust disaster recovery fail-over plan.

While virtualization is commonly associated with server consolidation, applying virtualization technologies broadly across the IT infrastructure yield important improvements in efficiency, flexibility, continuity and agility. Whether the particular challenge is server utilization, application compatibility, centralized data processing, or managing legacy applications, Dynamic Solutions Group has powerful solutions that integrate seamlessly with your IT infrastructure.

Apple iPhone Sync Exchange Contacts and Calendar with iPhone

Getting asked a lot on how to sync contacts and calendar from Exchange down to the iPhone. So this is how I have mine setup using my MacBook Pro and Entourage. First I setup my Entourage client to connect to my Exchange server using OWA address (which works awesome by the way).

Once that is working, go into Entourage Preferences and goto "Sync Services", put a check mark in the "Synchronize contacts with Address Book and .Mac" and in the "Address Book:" drop down box I chose "Contacts [DSG Exchange Server]"

Now in iTunes under iPhone Info I have my Contacts sync setup as follows:

Now for Calendar in Itunes under iPhone Info I have my Calendar sync setup as follows:

After completing these steps, sync your iPhone and you should now have your contacts on your iPhone. Works great for me, hopefully it will work for you as well!

Apple iPhone Exchange IMAP Issues

Been playing with the iPhone since I got it at about 6:45Pm on June 29th and the first aspect that I wanted to test was the ability to connect to our corporate Exchange server. Had to allow IMAP through the firewall first and configure the Exchange (2003) server to allow SSL IMAP connections. After some initial problems getting the iPhone to connect I was successful in getting connected.

So my email shows up and all the subfolders of email show up, attachment viewing great, but the major problem / challenge I am running into now is the email only syncs one way. If I delete a message from the iPhone it never deletes it from the server. It will mark the message as being read but thats about it. I am going to try it on another Exchange server to see if its any better on another installation of Exchange 2003. So close yet so far away!

Adobe InDesign CS3 Crashes on Startup msvcrt.dll

Leave it to me to find a challenge / bug or whatever you want to call it in the new Adobe InDesign CS3. So I setup a brand new Dell OptiPlex 745, Windows XP SP2, 4 GB Ram, 250 GB HD, Core 2 Duo Processor...you get the picture. The machine was not part of a domain (yet), I installed all the MS Updates and then install Adobe CS3 Design Standard on to the machine. Launched InDesign and it seemed fine, used it to test convert a PageMaker file.

So in prep of setting the computer up at the users desk I joined to the Domain and logged in as the user to setup Outlook, etc. - So I launch InDesign to do some more testing and as it is loading "starting up service registry" it crashes, details show msvcrt.dll as the offender. I went so far as to uninstall and reinstall CS3 which takes a while, with the same results. I log in as the administrator on the computer (the user that originally installed it) and it worked fine. So I downloaded Microsoft's (Sysinternal's) RegMon with no real red flags there I downloaded FileMon. As I ran FileMon I noticed right before it started to create the Adobe Dump file that it was going through printer files. So I checked to make sure that I had a printer installed on the machine (some programs don't like when there is no printer installed on the machine) and found that is was set to our connected copier by default. For ShiGrins I changed the default to the AdobePDF printer and restarted InDesign - Magically it launched without any problems.

I rebooted and tested again and again and it seems to be working now, even after I set the default printer back to the one it was originally.

Exchange 2007 OWA Event ID 2274

After installing Exchange 2007 on a brand new Windows 2003 x64 install everything seemed to be going well until OWA would not work. It would not respond or anything. The error below would show up in the event log.

Event ID: 2274
Source: W3SVC-WP

ISAPI Filter 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\bin\stsfltr.dll' could not be loaded due to a configuration problem. The current configuration only supports loading images built for a AMD64 processor architecture. The data field contains the error number.

After searching and searching and not finding much that specifically addressed this, started digging in more and found that Sharepoint Services 2.0 had been installed on the server. Sharepoint Services 2.0 runs in 32bit emualtion mode and it appears that it was conflicting with OWA running in 64bit.

After going into to add/remove programs and removing Sharepoint Services 2.0 immediately after I was able to get a Exchange 2007 OWA login to appear in the browser. Then tested with IE7 and FireFox and was able to login with multiple user accounts.

MS CRM 3.0 on Windows 2003 R2 x64

Well I was planning on install CRM 3.0 tonight for a client that was until I started receiving errors about IIS 5 or greater not being install on the server. Checked and sure enough it was install on the server and functioning. After some more attempts and then researching the issue found out that CRM 3.0 will not install on x64 OS. So much for install CRM 3.0 tonight, planning on installing x86 OS tomorrow and trying again.
